Lot traceability and recalls for food & beverage

When a supplier calls about a bad lot, you need to know exactly what came in, what it went into, and where it shipped — in minutes, not days. Alef Solutions tracks every lot from receiving through production to sale.

Recall-ready lot traceability

Every lot carries its history: the receipt it arrived on, the production runs that consumed it, the finished lots it became, and every movement in between.

  • Expiry-aware stock for dated goods
  • Full movement ledger per lot and location
  • QA quarantine with a release queue for incoming goods

Production with lot genealogy

Production runs consume component lots and produce finished goods with new lots and labels — the genealogy recalls depend on.

  • Component consumption tracked per run
  • Finished goods labeled at production with GS1-128 labels
  • Compliance fields for regulated products

GS1 labels without extra software

Design GS1-128 label templates once; print at receiving and production as the work happens.

  • Built-in label template designer
  • Print queue where the work is done
  • Wedge scanner and phone-camera scanning on every field

Modules Food & Beverage businesses use

Start with the module that hurts most; add the rest when you're ready — they share one login and one set of records. See the module library and pricing.

Questions operators ask

If a supplier reports a bad lot, how fast can we answer?

The trace runs both directions from the lot: what was received, what it was consumed into, and which shipments carried the result. It is a query against the same records receiving and production already wrote, not a reconstruction from paperwork — so the answer is minutes rather than a day of digging.

Do you support FEFO so the oldest stock ships first?

Yes. Outbound allocation supports FEFO alongside FIFO and LIFO, chosen per your operation, so short-dated stock is picked before it becomes a write-off. FEFO is part of the Warehouse Management module.

Can we hold stock for QA before it is sellable?

Receiving can place stock into quarantine and require a release step before it can be allocated, so nothing untested reaches a customer order. The release is recorded against the lot, which is what makes the trace above answerable afterwards.

Is this a food-safety compliance system?

No, and we will not pitch it as one. It gives you the lot traceability, the quarantine and release step, and the SOPs an audit asks to see — but it does not certify you, file anything, or implement a specific standard on your behalf. Treat it as the record layer your compliance process runs on.
